Research Interest: My background is in biochemistry and enzymology. As such, I am interested in studying the mechanisms of regulation by small molecules of critical enzymes, such as sirtuins, in the aging process. In addition, I am also interested in investigating the metabolism of NAD+, a cofactor for numerous important cellular processes. NAD+ has been shown to decline with aging and this decline is associated with cellular dysfunction. Our goal is to identify interventions to maintain NAD+ biosynthesis and help delay the onset of aging and age-related diseases.
