Congratulations to Stephen Elledge, awarded the 2012 AICF Prize for Scientific Excellence in Medicine

Stephen Elledge and Ronald DePinho are the winners of the 2012 Prize for Scientific Excellence in Medicine awarded by the American-Italian Cancer Foundation. The prize recognizes important discoveries in cancer biology, prevention, diagnosis, or treatment.

Stephen Elledge is a senior geneticist at Brigham & Women's Hospital and the Gregor Mendel Professor of Genetics at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Elledge's areas of research include the DNA damage response, cancer biology, the ubiquitin pathway, the interactions between hosts and pathogens, and cell cycle inhibition.

Ronald DePinho was the founding director of the Belfer Institute for Applied Cancer Science at Data-Farber Cancer Institute and a professor in the Department of Medicine at Harvard Medical School.  He is currently the president of the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
