In the transcription-based model, enhancers can act in trans on the promoter of a paired homolog when the cis promoter is non-functional. In the structure-based model, pairing of structurally different alleles leads to looping out of non-homologous regions of DNA, bringing enhancers closer to their promoter. In both models, homolog pairing must precede transvection. My research addresses pairing. My questions
