Cardiac Contraction in Wildtype and MOEya4 Morphant Zebrafish Embryos

Movie 1 shows the wildtype fish heart at 72 hpf with blood cells circulating from the atrium to the ventricle. Contraction of the heart is normal and the pericardial space is compacted.

Movie 2 and 3 show the morphant heart at 72 hpf. In Movie 2, the atrium is on the left with the ventricle on the right. Regurgitant blood flow from the ventricle to atrium was observed in this heart. Movie 3 is focused on the ventricle of a morphant heart with non-uniform contraction. Both morphants showed profound pericardial effusion.
