The best history that I've ever found of Hillcrest Heights, and of all the communities in the county, is included in a book called The Neighborhoods of Prince George's County: development patterns, land use characteristics, household composition, structural conditions, neighborhood facilities, observed needs, published in 1974 by the Community Renewal Program of the PG County Department of Community Development. It's available in the reference section of many of the county libraries (call number R301.54P).
