Mesodermal Expression of Even-Skipped

(top) Even-skipped (Eve) is initially expressed in small clusters of mesodermal cells in the dorsal region of the embryo.
(bottom) At a later developmental stage, the Eve-positive mesodermal cells have differentiated into a subset of pericardial cells of the heart and one dorsal somatic muscle precursor.
