Roxanne Bavarian, DMD

Graduate Student

Roxanne BavarianResearch Interest: As a dentist pursuing studies in the field of oral medicine, my research interests lie primarily in the characterization and management of various orofacial conditions. ¬†Working clinically with the unique patient population at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Dana Farber Cancer Center has led my research to focus on oral toxicities associated with cancer therapeutics such as radiation and conventional chemotherapy. I am currently working with animal models of gastrointestinal acute radiation syndrome to better characterize the mechanism of radiation-induced oral and gastrointestinal mucositis. My goal is to identify the potential role and value of sirtuins and sirtuin-activating compounds to develop novel therapeutics for preventing and/or treating radiation-associated toxicities.
