Roxanne BavarianResearch Interest: As a dentist specializing in the field of oral medicine, my research interests lie primarily in the characterization and management of various oral mucosal conditions. Working clinically with the unique patient population at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute has inspired me to investigate the mechanism of oral toxicities associated with cancer therapeutics, such as head and neck radiation and conventional chemotherapy. I am currently working with murine models of total body irradiation in order to better characterize the mechanism of radiation-induced oral and gastrointestinal mucositis. My goal is to identify the potential role of NAD+ and NAD+ boosting compounds with the hope of developing novel therapeutics for preventing and/or treating radiation-associated toxicities.
