These papers will either be at this site on the bibliography page, on reserve in Countway, or in Countway's journal areas.

PROBLEM SETS: Problem sets will be distributed roughly every three weeks, for a total of four problem sets during the semester. Each problem set will be graded for credit. Answers will be collected from students by the end of class on dates provided in syllabus. Problem sets turned in late will not be accepted. Solutions for each problem set will be posted on this site just after the class at which they are due. TAs cannot assist students with problem set questions and will only discuss them after solutions have been turned in.

EXAMS:
Midterm exam - Monday, October 20, 8:30 am - 10:20 am. Please note the early start time. This is held both in the MEC 250 and the Cannon Room; please see the announcements link for your section's assigned room.

Final exam - Tuesday, December 16, 9:00 am - 11:00 am. This is held both in the MEC 250 and the Cannon Room; please see the announcements link for your section's assigned room.

Exams will cover material from the lectures and the problem set questions, and will have a problem-solving format similar to that seen in the problem sets. Exams will last eighty minutes and will be closed-note. Students attending the course must be available to take exams on the dates provided; no make-up exams will be given. Any student who anticipates a conflict on one of these dates should contact Fred Winston at the start of the semester and discuss whether or not to continue with the course. In the event of a medical emergency on the exam date, students must provide written documentation of their illness and their doctor's phone number. They may then be given an oral exam by one of the faculty.

GRADING: Grades are based on midterm exam (37%), final exam (38%) and four take-home problem sets (25%).

REGRADE POLICY: Regrade requests must be submitted in writing and accompanied by the graded problem, within 1 week of receiving original grade. Requests will be reviewed by a different grader and returned to the student as promptly as possible.
