Configure Eudora 7. to read IMAP mail
on Receptor

Select Options from the Eudora Tools Menu

In the Getting Started tab fill in:

Your username (mailtest here)

receptor.med.harvard.edu as both the Mail Server and the SMTP Server

Your email address:
your_mailbox@genetics.med.harvard.edu

Turn on Allow Authentication. Receptor requires authentication.

In the Checking Mail tab make sure the User Name and Mail Host fields are filled in properly.

The username is the one you use to log into receptor; the mail host is receptor.med.harvard.edu

Set Secure Sockets when Receiving to Required, Alternate Port

A Check for Mail interval set to 0 means do not automatically check for mail. If you want Eudora to check for email automatically, a 10 to 15 minute interval is reasonable

In the Incoming Mail tab choose the way you want to receive email:

POP downloads all email to your computer and reads it there

IMAP reads email directly from the server

Downloading minimal headers only leaves attachments on the server until you want to read them. This is useful in dealing with viruses.

Authenticate using Passwords.

In the Sending Mail tab make sure that your email address and SMTP Server are specified correctly.

Then check Allow Authorization.
Do not specify an SMTP Relay personality.

Do NOT turn on
Use submission port (587)

Set Secure Sockets when Sending to Required, STARTTLS

Click the OK button

Quit Eudora and reopen

Click Check Mail to connect to receptor
